Ghost integration: blog posts, newsletters and member automation

Connect your Ghost site to OrqLabs with a custom integration's Admin API key. Posts prepared by AI land in Ghost as drafts, go live after approval and, if you want, reach your subscribers as a newsletter.

What it does in OrqLabs

OrqLabs connects to Ghost through the official Admin API and signs a short-lived token for every request. The Ghost node creates and updates posts, reads one post or a list, and adds members. Markdown content is converted to HTML, which Ghost turns into its own editor cards. Tags are given by name and missing ones are created.

Sending a newsletter is a deliberate step: a post is only emailed when you enter your newsletter's slug in Send as newsletter and the status is published or scheduled, and you choose all subscribers, free or paid members as recipients. With the field empty, the post is only published on the site. With no status selected, it stays a draft.

When you connect, OrqLabs sets up the post published and member added webhooks in Ghost itself; every delivery is signed with a secret and verified. Announcing a new post on social media, adding a new subscriber to your CRM or drafting a welcome message then starts automatically.

What you can automate

  • Ghost drafts from SEO briefs

Write an article from a SEO & Traffic Growth content brief with Generate text and save it as a draft, tags included, with Ghost → Create post.

  • Approved publishing and newsletters

Send the draft for approval; once approved, Update post publishes it and emails it to subscribers through the newsletter slug you chose.

  • Welcome new members

The member added event brings the email, name, labels and newsletters; a personalised welcome message is drafted or the contact is written to your CRM.

  • Form sign-ups to Ghost

Add the email from a form response as a Ghost member with Add member, with labels and newsletter subscriptions; an existing member is merged instead of duplicated.

Requirements

  • A Ghost 5.x site (Ghost(Pro) or self-hosted).
  • The Owner or Administrator role in Ghost to create a custom integration.
  • Email sending configured in Ghost if you want to send newsletters.

Good to know

  • Only posts are supported – Ghost pages are not.
  • When Ghost converts HTML into its own cards, some custom formatting may be simplified.
  • Ghost doesn't retry failed webhook deliveries, so an event that can't reach OrqLabs may be missed.
  • The Content API key doesn't work – you need the Admin API key. Details: Ghost setup guide.

Frequently asked questions

Can a post be emailed as a newsletter by mistake?

No. A newsletter is only sent when Send as newsletter is filled in and the status is published or scheduled. The field is ignored for drafts.

Do I have to set up the webhooks myself?

No. When you connect, OrqLabs creates the post published and member added webhooks through the Ghost Admin API and verifies their signatures.

What happens if an existing member is added again?

By default the contact isn't duplicated: the name and note are updated, and new labels and newsletter subscriptions are added to the existing ones – nothing is removed.

Does it work with Ghost(Pro)?

Yes. Ghost(Pro) and self-hosted Ghost 5.x use the same Admin API.
