Hunter.io integration: find business emails for your leads

Hunter.io finds business email addresses and company details from a domain. In OrqLabs, the Lead Researcher and the **Enrich lead** node use your Hunter account to fill in missing emails, each with a confidence score.

What it does in OrqLabs

Finding emails with Hunter.io is the step that makes a lead list ready for outreach. With a full name and a domain, Hunter returns the person's likely work address with a confidence score; with only a domain, the most reliable address on that domain is picked. Company details such as industry, employee range, location, LinkedIn page and technologies are pulled from the domain as well.

The Lead Researcher calls Hunter through its email finder and company enrichment tools for the companies it finds via web search, and is instructed to flag low-confidence addresses in the lead notes. In workflows, the Enrich lead node does the same: it adds email, confidence, position and company details to each item from its website and full name fields.

The key is organization-wide and credits come from your Hunter account; OrqLabs records the calls in usage for information. If both Hunter and Apollo are connected, Hunter is the default, and you can choose the account in each Enrich lead node.

What you can automate

  • Fill in missing emails

Pull leads with Find leads, add a Filter node with {{ !$json.email }} so only leads without an email remain, then complete them with Enrich lead via Hunter. The email and confidence score flow into the next nodes.

  • Contact details during research

In the lead research → qualify → outreach template, the Lead Researcher looks up emails with Hunter for the companies it finds, so the shortlist you approve is ready for outreach.

  • Filter by company profile

Use the industry and employee-range fields added by Enrich lead in an If node to move forward only the companies that match your target profile.

  • Route by confidence

Build an If branch that sends high-confidence addresses to the Outreach Agent and low-confidence ones to your team for a manual check.

  • Enrich lead

Finds email, company size and social profiles from a website or full name (Hunter/Apollo), e.g. to fill in leads missing an email.

Requirements

  • A hunter.io account and the key from its API page; Hunter requires a business email to sign up.
  • A Hunter plan that fits your volume: the free plan works for testing, bulk research needs a paid plan.
  • The lead's website (domain), plus a full name for person-level emails.
  • Owner or Admin role in OrqLabs; the key is organization-wide.

Good to know

  • Hunter works on business domains only; free email domains such as gmail.com return nothing.
  • Addresses come with a confidence score and are not guaranteed; OrqLabs workflows don't run a separate email verification step, so check low-confidence addresses before sending.
  • Personal emails are not searched. In B2B outreach, state the data source and the right to opt out in your first message; marketing to consumers requires prior consent.

Frequently asked questions

How is Hunter different from Apollo?

Hunter is strong at finding business emails from a domain; Apollo offers richer person and company profiles. You can connect both and choose which one runs in each Enrich lead node.

Is it legal to email the addresses Hunter finds?

B2B outreach can rely on legitimate interest if your first message states the data source and the right to opt out. Marketing to consumers requires prior consent.

How are credits used?

Under Hunter's pricing, email finder, domain search and company lookups use search credits. The connection test uses none.

How do I avoid wasting credits?

Put a Filter node before Enrich lead to drop leads that already have an email, so only the missing ones go to Hunter.
