Tavily integration: a search API built for AI agents

Tavily is a search service designed for AI agents: each result includes a cleaned excerpt of the page. In OrqLabs it works as an alternative or a complement to Serper for web search.

What it does in OrqLabs

On top of the usual search result, the Tavily search API returns a cleaned excerpt of each page, so the agent doesn't have to strip raw markup. Agents that search the web and the Web search node can run on your Tavily account; results come back as a title, URL and content excerpt.

If Tavily is your only search connection, all web searches go through it. If Serper is connected too, Serper is the default; to route specific flows to Tavily, pick the Tavily account in the Web search node, and for specific agents, select it in the agent node's Accounts it may use field.

The key is organization-wide and credits are drawn from your Tavily account; OrqLabs records those calls in usage for information and adds no charge.

What you can automate

  • Market research

The Market Analyst takes your research focus and region, scans sources and writes a market research report with segments, opportunities and a source list.

  • Competitor messaging and pricing

The Competitor Analyst researches the messaging, content strategy and pricing of the competitors you list, then reports gaps and recommendations.

  • News and trend scans

Schedule a Web search node on your Tavily account, summarize the results with Generate text and share them via Notify team.

  • Content drafts backed by sources

The Content Creator can look up current sources before writing; select Tavily in the agent node to route those searches to it.

Setup at a glance

  2. Copy the key that starts with tvly-….

  3. In OrqLabs, open Integrations → Tavily → Connect and paste it into the API key field.

  4. Test connection runs a short search, which uses one search credit.

  5. If Serper is connected too, select the Tavily account in the nodes or agents that should use it.

Requirements

  • An app.tavily.com account and an API key starting with tvly-.
  • A Production key for regular use; according to Tavily's docs, Development keys have a lower rate limit.
  • Owner or Admin role in OrqLabs; the key is organization-wide.

What you enter when connecting

  • API key *

Good to know

  • Tavily's country targeting is limited; write the query in the target language to get local results.
  • When your monthly credits run out, searches fail and agents work without search until the quota resets or you upgrade.
  • With Serper also connected, Serper stays the default; Tavily is used only in the nodes and agents where you select it.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need Tavily if Serper is already connected?

Not necessarily. Tavily returns cleaned content, which makes it efficient for research that reads long pages; Serper's raw Google results and country targeting suit lead research. You can connect both.

How does OrqLabs use my Tavily credits?

OrqLabs runs searches at Tavily's basic depth, which Tavily prices at one credit per search. The connection test also runs a single search.

Which projects can use the key?

Every project in the organization. They all share the same Tavily account and credits.
