Shopify integration: order, customer and abandoned-cart automation
Connect your Shopify store to OrqLabs with a custom app. Orders, payments, new customers and abandoned checkouts start your workflows; AI writes the personal message, and the workflow tags the customer or creates a one-time discount code.

What it does in OrqLabs
OrqLabs connects to Shopify through the GraphQL Admin API with a custom app you create for your store: the shpat_ access token of an existing custom app, or the Client ID and secret of a Dev Dashboard app – the recommended route since 2026. As soon as you connect, the new-order, paid-order and new-customer webhooks are registered on your store automatically.
Every delivery is signed with the app's API secret; OrqLabs verifies the signature and never processes a repeated delivery of the same order twice. Workflows start with the order number, total, currency, customer name, email, phone and line items. Abandoned checkouts have no Shopify webhook, so OrqLabs checks open checkouts every 5 minutes and starts the workflow – recovery link included – for checkouts still unfinished about an hour later.
The Shopify node reads and lists orders, adds tags to customers and creates percentage discount codes that apply to every product. Test runs in the editor never change anything in your store.
What you can automate
Abandoned-cart reminder with a discount
The abandoned-checkout event creates a one-time discount code; Generate text writes the personal reminder and Send email delivers the code and the recovery link.
Post-purchase thank-you
When an order is paid, the customer gets a thank-you email personalised with the product name, or a WhatsApp message with an approved template.
Customer tagging
Add new customers to your leads with Create lead and tag them in Shopify –
vip, newsletterand so on – with Add customer tags.Order summary report
On a Schedule, List orders pulls recent orders and the Report Writer turns them into a weekly sales summary.
Nodes that use this integration
In the workflow editor these nodes run with your Shopify account.
Shopify
Get order · List orders · Add customer tags · Create discount code
Setup at a glance
If you have a custom app, add the scopes under Settings → Apps and sales channels → Develop apps and copy the
shpat_token and API secret key.Otherwise create an app on dev.shopify.com, pick the scopes, release the version, install it on your store and copy the Client ID and secret.
In OrqLabs, go to Integrations → Shopify → Connect and pick the project.
Enter the store address, the access token (or Client ID) and the API secret, then click Connect – the webhooks are registered automatically.
Pick the Shopify account and event in the Integration event trigger and try the workflow with a test order.
Requirements
- A Shopify store and a staff account allowed to develop apps.
- A custom app on the store: the
shpat_token of a legacy custom app, or a Dev Dashboard app in the same organization. - The
read_ordersandread_customersscopes, pluswrite_customersfor tags andwrite_discountsfor discount codes. - The store's
yourstore.myshopify.comaddress (a custom domain does not work with the Admin API).
What you enter when connecting
- Store domain *
- Admin API access token (shpat_…)
- Client ID (Dev Dashboard app)
- API secret key / client secret *
Good to know
- Since 1 January 2026 Shopify no longer lets you create new legacy custom apps in the store admin; new connections use a Dev Dashboard app.
- The abandoned-checkout event is a 5-minute check, not a webhook; only checkouts with contact details trigger it, about an hour after they start.
- The discount action creates percentage codes that apply to every product and every buyer only.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to install an app from the Shopify App Store?
No. The connection uses a custom app you create for your own store, so data flows only between your store and OrqLabs.
When does an abandoned checkout trigger a workflow?
About an hour after the shopper entered contact details and left without paying, if the checkout is still unfinished. The workflow also gets the recovery link.
Can the same order start a workflow twice?
No. Even if Shopify re-sends a delivery, OrqLabs processes the event once per order or customer.
Does a test run change my store?
No. In the editor's test mode, tagging and discount creation are skipped; only read actions run.
