Use cases
Reply to Instagram comments automatically with AI
For Instagram comment auto-replies, OrqLabs' Community Manager agent reads new comments under your posts, classifies their sentiment, answers questions from your knowledge base in your brand voice and sets complaints aside. It covers public comments only – OrqLabs has no Instagram DM channel.
The challenge
Unanswered comments are public
When a question about price, size, stock or shipping goes unanswered under a post, it isn't just the person asking who notices – every follower reading the thread sees a brand that doesn't respond.
The same questions, every day
“How much is it?” and “How long does shipping take?” come up under every post. Answering them one by one takes time, and the tone changes depending on who replies.
Complaints get lost in the crowd
If a refund request or harsh criticism is spotted late among dozens of compliments, a small issue can turn into a public one.
The risk of an unchecked bot
An unsupervised auto-reply tool can invent promotions, prices or delivery dates – and a mistake in a public comment stays there until someone deletes it.
How OrqLabs handles it
Reads new comments on a schedule
The Get comments & mentions step runs in a scheduled workflow; the ready-made template checks every hour. On Instagram it reads comments under your recent posts and the replies to those comments. The agent remembers the last comment it processed and only looks at new ones next time.
Sentiment and escalation
New comments are classified as positive, neutral or negative in one batch. Comments containing one of your Escalation keywords (e.g.
refund, complaint, lawyer) or that look negative and urgent are listed separately with a severity and a reason; the agent only posts a short, empathetic holding reply to them.Short answers grounded in your knowledge base
For questions about products, prices, shipping and returns, the agent searches your knowledge base first and answers only with what it finds; if there's no answer, it says the team will follow up. Replies are 1–2 sentences, in the commenter's language and in your project's brand voice; spam is skipped.
Approval or auto-reply mode
With Auto-reply without approval off (the agent's default), nothing is posted – every reply comes back as a draft. Add Request approval and Reply to comment steps to the workflow to edit and approve drafts on the Approvals page. The ready-made template ships with auto-reply on; we recommend turning it off until you trust the quality.
Reports to keep track
Every run that processes new comments ends with a community digest: escalated comments and why, replies posted or left as drafts, and the positive/neutral/negative split. For hourly workflows you can switch off report saving and leave the weekly summary to the Report Writer.
Example flow
A Schedule trigger starts the workflow every hour.
Get comments & mentions fetches new Instagram comments; add one step each for Facebook, X or YouTube and join them with Merge.
The Community Manager classifies the comments, answers questions from the knowledge base and puts sensitive ones on the escalation list.
With auto-reply on, replies are posted to Instagram right away.
With it off, each draft goes to the Approvals page via Request approval, and Reply to comment posts the ones you approve.
Use Filter to pick out replies to negative comments and Notify team to send them to Slack or email; the community digest is saved under Reports.
Things to keep in mind
Instagram DMs are not supported
On Instagram, OrqLabs only reads and answers public comments; there is no channel for Instagram Direct messages. Replies to Stories arrive as DMs on Instagram, so they are out of scope too. For a one-to-one AI assistant, see the WhatsApp chatbot page; for your Facebook Page's inbox there is a Messenger channel.
Which platforms support comment replies?
Comment reading and replying are available for X, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube only. On X the agent processes posts that mention your account, on Facebook and Instagram comments under your recent posts, on YouTube comments on your channel. OrqLabs doesn't read comments on LinkedIn, Threads, TikTok or Pinterest.
Account requirements
You need an Instagram professional account (Business or Creator); personal accounts can't be connected, and no Facebook Page is required. Comments need the
instagram_business_manage_commentspermission. Details: Instagram integration. No deleting, one workflow per account
The Community Manager never deletes or hides comments; the final call on negative ones stays with you. Don't process the same account in two workflows, or a comment may get two replies.
