X (Twitter) integration: auto-posting and tweet scheduling

OrqLabs connects your X account to workflows: the Content Creator writes the post, the Social Publisher schedules it for the best slot and the Community Manager answers mentions in your brand voice. Text over 280 characters becomes a thread automatically.

What it does in OrqLabs

For X (Twitter) auto-posting, OrqLabs uses X's OAuth 2.0 consent screen: you click Connect once and never share a password. Access tokens last two hours and OrqLabs refreshes them in the background. Each connection belongs to a project, so you can run several brand accounts side by side.

A post can carry up to 4 images or a single video next to the text. Media must sit at a public URL; OrqLabs downloads the file and uploads it to X. The 280-character limit follows X's counting rules (every link counts as 23 characters), and longer text is split at paragraph and sentence boundaries and published as a thread.

X's API has no native tweet scheduling, so scheduled posts wait in the OrqLabs publishing queue and go out on time. Approval is on by default in the Social Publisher and the Schedule post node: you see, edit and approve each post in the Content calendar before it is published. Impressions, likes, replies, reposts and bookmarks flow back into your reports.

What you can automate

  • Daily tweet and thread flow

The daily social media content flow template has the Content Creator draft X, LinkedIn and Instagram posts every weekday morning; you approve them and the Social Publisher schedules them for the best slot.

  • Tweet scheduling at the best time

The Social Publisher picks a slot from the posting times in your strategy document and the last 28 days of engagement, records why it chose it and never puts a second post on X on the same day.

  • Brand-voice replies to mentions

The Get comments & mentions node collects posts and replies that mention your account. The Community Manager classifies sentiment, drafts a reply and routes refund or complaint messages to the Inbox.

  • Weekly performance report

The Get post metrics node pulls impressions and engagement for recent posts; the Report Writer or the Analytics Strategist turns them into a weekly report.

  • Publishing without AI

If the text and time are already fixed, use the Publish post or Schedule post node directly: no model is called and there is no AI cost.

Agents that work with it

Nodes that use this integration

In the workflow editor these nodes run with your X (Twitter) account.

  • Publish post

Posts text and media to your connected social account right away, e.g. sharing an approved Instagram post instantly.

  • Schedule post

Saves the post to your Content calendar and publishes it at the time you set, e.g. preparing the week's posts on Monday and spreading them out.

  • Get post metrics

Fetches views, likes, comments, shares and clicks for your recent posts, e.g. to build a weekly performance report.

  • Get comments & mentions

Fetches new comments and mentions since the last run, e.g. checking comments every hour and drafting replies.

  • Reply to comment

Replies to a specific comment in your brand's name, e.g. posting an AI-drafted reply you approved on Instagram.

Setup at a glance

  1. In the OrqLabs panel open Integrations and click Connect on the X (Twitter) card.

  2. Pick the project this account belongs to and click Connect again.

  3. On X's Authorize app screen check the account shown at the top; if your personal account is active, switch to the brand account on x.com first.

  4. Approve the permissions. The authorization code is valid for about 30 seconds, so do not leave the screen open for long.

  5. Once the card shows Connected, use Test connection to confirm the @username.

  6. Before the first real post, run the workflow in test mode; nothing is sent to X in that mode.

Requirements

  • An X account to post from and someone who can log in to it. Posts go out from whichever account grants access, so connect the brand account.
  • X API access that fits your volume: reading mentions and pulling metrics regularly may be unavailable or tightly capped on low access levels.
  • The Owner or Admin role in your OrqLabs organization.

Requested permissions

  • tweet.read
  • tweet.write
  • users.read
  • media.write
  • offline.access

Good to know

  • The X API is paid and rate-limited, and under X's current pricing posts that contain a link cost more. OrqLabs logs every X call as usage, checks it against your budget caps and reads at most 50 posts' metrics and 100 mentions per call.
  • A post holds either up to 4 images or one video; supported image formats are JPEG, PNG, WEBP and GIF.
  • X rejects identical text posted again within a short time, and spam-like frequency can get the account locked.

Frequently asked questions

How does tweet scheduling work?

The Schedule post node or the Social Publisher saves the post as scheduled, and the OrqLabs publishing queue sends it to X at that time. Scheduled posts appear in the Content calendar, where you can drag them to a new time.

What happens to text longer than 280 characters?

It is split at paragraph and sentence boundaries and published as a thread. The Content Creator writes single-post copy by default and only drafts threads when you ask for them.

Should I connect my personal account or the brand account?

The brand account. Posts go out from whichever account grants access, and you can connect a second X account to the same project with the same steps.

Are replies to mentions sent without our approval?

Not by default. Auto-reply is off in the Community Manager, so reply drafts wait on the Approvals page; switch it on once you trust the quality.
