What it does in OrqLabs

The Messenger integration uses Meta's Messenger Platform. While connecting, you pick your Page on Meta's consent screen; OrqLabs receives page access and subscribes the Page to its webhook. From then on, customer messages, quick-reply taps and delivered/read receipts reach OrqLabs.

Every incoming message opens a conversation in the Inbox. The AI Chatbot answers FAQs, pricing and appointment requests from your knowledge base and hands the conversation to your team when it isn't sure. To add Messenger to an existing chatbot workflow, just select Messenger in the Message received trigger's channel list.

Messenger follows Meta's 24-hour rule: you can reply freely within 24 hours of the user's last message. That makes Messenger a fast-response channel for people who write to your Page rather than a campaign channel – use WhatsApp templates or email for bulk sends.

What you can automate

  • Automatic replies to Page messages

The AI Chatbot answers questions sent to your Page using the FAQs, price list and policies in your knowledge base, in the language the customer writes in.

  • Human handoff

Complaints, refunds and low-confidence questions move the conversation to “Human” and notify your team; you reply from the Inbox and hand it back to the bot.

  • Leads from conversations

When a customer shares an email or phone number, it's saved as a lead. Messenger user IDs are Page-specific, so matching to existing leads happens by email or phone.

  • One flow, several channels

The same chatbot workflow can listen to WhatsApp, Telegram and Messenger together and send each reply on the channel the message came from.

Agents that work with it

Nodes that use this integration

In the workflow editor these nodes run with your Facebook Messenger account.

  • Message received

Starts when a customer message arrives on a connected channel like WhatsApp or Telegram; e.g. so your chatbot answers automatically.

  • Send message

Sends a message to one person on WhatsApp, Telegram, SMS and more, e.g. delivering a chatbot reply or an appointment reminder.

  • Hand off to human

Passes the chat to someone on your team, silences the bot in that chat and alerts the team, e.g. when a customer complains or asks for a person.

Setup at a glance

  1. Add the Messenger product to your Meta app via Add products → Messenger and add the OrqLabs redirect URL to the valid OAuth redirect URIs.

  2. Under Use cases, add the pages_messaging, pages_manage_metadata and pages_show_list permissions.

  3. In OrqLabs, go to Integrations → Facebook Messenger → Connect, pick the project and approve your Page on Meta's consent screen.

  4. Enter the Callback URL and verify token from the card in the Messenger webhook settings and subscribe to messages, messaging_postbacks and messaging_optins.

  5. Send your Page a test message on Messenger – the conversation should appear in the Inbox. If the app is in Development mode, add your account as a Tester.

Good to know

  • This integration covers Facebook Page Messenger only; Instagram DMs are not included.
  • Free-form messages can't be sent more than 24 hours after the user's last message – Meta rejects them. Out-of-window marketing messages violate Meta policy.
  • While the Meta app is in Development mode, only people with a role on the app trigger the webhook; public use requires App Review.
  • OrqLabs has no broadcast option for Messenger.

Frequently asked questions

Do Instagram DMs come into OrqLabs too?

No. The Messenger integration only covers your Facebook Page's Messenger inbox; OrqLabs has no Instagram DM channel.

Can I send marketing messages on Messenger?

Only as a reply in a conversation the user started, within 24 hours of their last message. Out-of-window marketing messages violate Meta policy.

Why didn't my test message show up in the Inbox?

If the Meta app is in Development mode, only messages from people with a role on the app are delivered. Add your account as a Tester, or switch the app to Live after App Review.

How is this different from the Facebook Page integration?

The Facebook Page integration handles posts, metrics and comments; the Messenger integration answers private messages sent to the Page. Both can use the same Meta app.
